Mumbai, Jan 06: Differences among Congress-NCP, the
partners in ruling DF government, came to fore today with NCP
planning to field candidates for the January 24 by-polls to
Solapur-south and Nagpur-south assembly constituencies, that
rests with congress as per seat sharing agreement.

"The party was prepared to contest the by-elections for
the two seats on its own, if congress does not clarify its
stand on the alliance," NCP spokesman Vasant Chavan told
reporters here.

The state unit of congress has been repeatedly saying
that the alliance with NCP needed to be reconsidered for any
future election, Chavan said adding, "Congress should clarify
its stand on the issue or NCP was prepared to contest the two
seats on its own."

He said the party workers have filed their candidature
for the two seats but they were not its official candidates.

Later, MPCC chief Prabha Rau said she has reports that
NCP has fielded its candidates on the two seats.

"I am confident that they will withdraw their
candidature", Rau said adding she would raise the issue with
NCP.
