New Delhi, Aug 30: The ‘happening’ Friday has finally arrived. Three much awaited movies- `Aag`, `Victoria No 203` and `Dhokha` are finally hitting the screens.
The release of the much hyped multi starrer ‘Aag’, the dark and mundane ‘Dhokha’ and the new and less publicized version of the golden classic Victoria No 203 are being looked at with a mixture of curiosity and hope.
Ram Gopal Varma’s big budget (Rs 30 crore) multistarrer ‘Aag’ is no doubt basking in the maximum limelight. Featuring some of the biggest Bollywood names like Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Ajay Devgan and Sushmita Sen, the movie is supposedly the remake of the all time hit ‘Sholey’. The film is expected to draw huge audience as the response to the promos has been overwhelming, apart from the star attraction of the film. No wonder every one wants to see the new ‘Sholey’ and compare it with the old one.
On the toes of the ‘new Sholey’ is Anant Mahadevan’s Victoria No 203. Starring Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergil, Preety Jhangiani and with Himesh Reshammiya music, the film is certainly expected to draw crowds. One interesting fact about the film is that it is being produced by Kamal Sadanah, the son of Brij Sadanah, who made the original movie in 1972.
The third release of 31st August is Puja Bhatt’s ‘Dhokha’. The movie is being simultaneously released in India and Pakistan. Strangely enough, unlike the typical Bhatt movie, ‘Dhokha’ is not relying on its music bank. It has been described as a thought provoking movie on the reality of terrorism. Starring Anupam Kher, Muzammil Ibrahim and Tulip Joshi, ‘Dhokha’ traces the graph of an honest policeman’s transformation whose wife is killed in a bomb blast.
