Mumbai, Oct 10: CBI on Tuesday said it had unearthed
"unaccounted" properties collectively worth Rs 2.20 crore of a
top official of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust during raids on
his 15 premises in Mumbai and a flat at Hoogli in West Bengal
and arrested him in a case of disproportionate assets case.
T K Chakraborty, Assistant Collector of Customs at JNPT
Port in Nhava Sheva near here, was arrested along with three
others on October 6 under Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA)
and remanded to custody till October 10, CBI sources said.
CBI seized cash amounting to Rs 31.76 lakh, 1.9 kg gold
biscuits worth Rs 16.36 lakh, investments in various bonds of
RBI, IDBI and SBI worth Rs 49 lakh and shares and securities
of Rs 60 lakh from the locker of the accused.
Besides this, documents in respect of three flats worth
Rs 40.56 lakh in the names of Chakraborty and his wife were
also recovered, the sources added.
