Book pirates held, more than 2,500 fake bestsellers seized

New Delhi, Dec 17: Two men were arrested and more than 2,500 pirated copies of several international bestsellers were seized from the walled city during a crime branch raid, police said today.

The raid led to the recovery of 540 pirated copies of Dan Brown's the Da Vinci Code, 720 of Robin S Sharma's The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, 1,000 of Johan Gray's Men Are From Mars; Women Are From Venus, 50 of Shiv Khera's You Can Win and 10 pirated copies of Jeene Ke Usool also by Shiv Khera, police said.

Mohammad Shafiq, from whose Turkmaa Gate workshop the pirated books were allegedly seized, and printer Mohammad Anees were arrested after the raid.

Produced at a cost as little as Rs 20 a copy, each pirated book was sold for more than Rs 250, DCP (crime) T S Luthra said.
