The Vadodara police will next week initiate a campaign in schools to create awareness against incidents of eve-teasing, gangrape and blackmail.

Vadodara, July 13: The Vadodara police will next week initiate a campaign in schools to create awareness against incidents of eve-teasing, gangrape and blackmail. This is being done after the state police officials issued a circular across the state to start such a campaign in the wake of Surat gangrape case.

The police will guide students, school coordinators and parents about the action to be taken in case any of the abovementioned incidents occur.

Local police officials will personally go to schools and hold meetings with school authorities, parents and students, especially girl students, and brief them about the precautions to be taken to avoid any incident of physical molestation, eve-teasing or any such incident.

The commissioner of police, Rakesh Asthana, said, "We will visit big schools first and go to small schools in the second phase. Police officials will guide girl students and listen to their complaints, if any, about anti-social elements harassing them. They will be told whom to approach in case of complaints. Not only that, phone numbers of police officials will also be given to them. The complainants` name will be kept confidential."
