Hyderabad, Oct 09: Andhra Pradesh Government would
take all necessary steps to eradicate child labour in the
state by creating awareness among people as well as focus on
their rehabilitation.
"We will launch a publicity campaign on a massive scale
and involve various NGOs and other voluntary organisations to
implement the Child Labour (Prohibition And Regulation) Act",
state labour minister G Vinod told reporters here today.
The state has about 16 lakh child labourers working in
various sectors, with hospitality (hotels and tourist spots)
and domestic sectors employing a majority of them, he said.
"Besides creating awareness through campaign and
explaining the rights of a child, we will also focus on the
rehabilitation programme," he said.
