Sonipat, July 17: Tourists will now have the experience of a
Haryana village with Haveli, Chaupal, Baithak and a pond right on
the National Highway near the Delhi-Haryana border.

At the `Mhara Gaam` (Our Village) project set up at the famous
ethnic India Tourist Resort at Rai, the tourists will have a
complete view of the village life. The Rs 25 crore project, executed
by the Haryana Tourism, was inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Om
Prakash Chautala yesterday.

The village ambience has been created with farming equipment,
old household items, hukkahs, original raths and charkha.
Besides, the visitors can also experience the thrill of drawing
water from the well, riding a bullock-cart and making pots on the
potter`s wheel.

The `Mhara Gaam` will also provide opportunities of entertainment
including folk dances, puppet shows and snake charmer shows.
The tourists will be served with local cuisine in age-old
traditional utensils and layouts.

Chautala said a visit to the place would be a great learning
experience for the modern generation which had lost touch with their
culture.

The project, situated 7 km away from Haryana-Delhi border,
would acquaint the tourists with local art, culture and rural
life-style of the state, he added.
