Mumbai, Dec 08: Veteran film director Yash Chopra released a cookery-book which "documents" culinary experience of an 85-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh.
The woman, Subhadra Krishna Rao Parigi, is the eldest child of former president, Dr V V Giri.

The 87-page book, titled `Cooking At Home with Pedatha' is actually written by Jigyasa Giri and Pratibha Jain, who said at the release function here yesterday that their job was merely of `documenting'.

Pedatha in Telgu means elder sister of one's father -- aunt so to say -- and Subhadra Giri is addressed by this name in her family, hence the title of the book, they added.

The release function was attended among others, by celebrated cook Sanjeev Kapur and food critic Rashmi Uday Singh.

Saying that the book offered "amazing" recipes from traditional Andhra Cusine, Singh jokingly urged the old lady, to `adopt' her.

Jigyasa Giri said documentation of household recipes -- on the lines of present book -- was necessary, because with it the traditional dishes can be "standardised", the way McDonald dishes are standardised.

Pratibha Jain said that writing down the recipes accurately as Subhadra narrated, was a big challenge.

The book, published by Chennai-based Pritya Publishing House, is priced at Rs 450.
