Swine flu continued to spread across the country today as 152 fresh cases were reported taking the total number of positive cases to 1707.

"One Hundred and fifty two positive cases have been
reported today of which Mumbai reported the highest with 60
cases," Health Ministry officials said.

Pune reports 18 cases. Delhi and Chennai report 11 cases
while Bangalore and Coimbatore have 10 each. Nine cases are
reported in Aurangabad. While Ernakulam and Mangalore have
three cases each, Akola, Devangere, and Jalna reported two
cases each.

Ahmadnagar, Solapur, Latur, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Dhule,
Belgaum, Hubli, Hrudyalaya (Karnataka), Dibrugarh (Assam), and
Shimla report one case each, the officials said.

A total of 97 cases today was reported from Maharashtra.

"Sixty cases have been reported from Mumbai of which 57 are
indigenous with no known foreign travel history," they said.

In Pune, where swine flu has caused the highest number of
casualties, 18 cases were reported. 20 other cases were also
reported from nine other districts in the state.

Eleven cases were reported in the national capital of
which 10 cases did not have any foreign travel history.

Karnataka also reported a total of 18 cases today of
which 10 were from Bangalore. Three cases were reported from
Kerela also.

A total of 8658 persons have been tested so far out of
which 1,707 are positive for Influenza A H1N1 and 694 of these
have been discharged from hospitals.
