SHIMLA: In a scathing attack on Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday likened the grand-old party to termites and claimed that their leaders are from running away from campaigning in the state.

Modi, who was addressing a rally in Kangra, said, "Congress is like termites. There should not be a single polling booth where this 'termite' remains alive."

PM Modi exhorted the people to finish it off by handing over the three-fourths majority to the BJP in the November 9 Assembly election.

Launching a further attack on the party, the Prime minister said Congress has conceded its defeat in Himachal and has left Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to his fate.

"No senior Congress leaders came here to campaign. They have conceded defeat and left Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to his fate," he said.

"I have heard that Congress has lost the trust of its own leaders and is looking for rebels in other parties. The Congress is getting the fruits of its sins. If people are angry today, it is due to its own deeds," Modi added.
