Heavy rains trigger landslides in parts of Himachal Pradesh

A landslide at Chhetri blocked the Kaza-Keylong highway in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district stranding many people for several hours. Landslides also occurred in Sirmaur, Shimla and Mandi districts.

Shimla: Heavy rains lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh, triggering landslides which blocked roads in some places.

A landslide at Chhetri blocked the Kaza-Keylong highway in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district stranding many people for several hours. Landslides also occurred in Sirmaur, Shimla and Mandi districts.

Nahan, Rajgarh and Renuka in Sirmaur district received 156 mm, 125 mm and 122 mm of rains respectively, while Paonta Sahib received 97 mm of precipitation, followed by Kothi 85 mm, Pachhad 74 mm , Manali 57 mm, Solan 51 mm and Shimla 47 mm.

Keylong was the coldest in the state with a low of 9.9 degrees Celsius while Manali and Kalpa recorded minimum temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius and 11.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

Day temperatures rose marginally and Una was the hottest with a high of 33.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 29.5 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 28 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 27.2 degrees Celsius and Nahan 26.4 degrees Celsius. 

The local MeT office has predicted rains or thunderstorm at isolated people in the mid hills tomorrow and dry weather in the state from September 28 onwards.
