New Delhi: Do you often suffer from red or bloodshot eyes? If so, then you should immediately consult a doctor as it could be a symptom of a wide range of disorders.
Experts said that if your eyes also feel itchy, irritated and sensitive then it could be a sign of one of these eye disorders or ailments.
Here are some common causes of red or bloodshot eyes:
Corneal ulcer
This eye disorder is often caused due to improper use of contact lenses or an infection. Other symptoms include discharge from the eyes, pain, swelling and blurred vision.
Dry eyes syndrome
When eyes don’t produce enough tears for lubrication then you could be suffering from dry eyes. Even, the poor quality tears could also result in dry eyes.
Contact lenses
One should not wearing contact lenses for long periods of time as it can cause you red eyes and trigger eye irritations or fungal eye infections. Adequate care should be taken while using them.
Too much time in front of screens
If you are spending too much time in front of a computer or smartphone then your eyes will start looking red or bloodshot. So, one should always take some breaks in between work to prevent it and consciously try to blink more often while working.
Touching your eyes
Repeatedly touching your eyes can also cause red eyes and infections. One should avoid using a sub standard make-up products as it can cause irritations and eye infections.
