PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has launched 20 bike ambulances in the city. The two-wheeler ambulances were launched on Thursday.

The ambulances are equipped with the basic life-saving equipment and they are going to serve as first respondents.

Each of them will also have two oxygen cylinders which will serve as rapid services at places where the four-wheeler ambulances cannot reach out.

The initiative is not aimed at replacing the four-wheeler ambulances. Instead, these two-wheeler ambulances will help them.

"These are going to serve as first respondents. Bike ambulances will not replace four-wheeler ambulances but will help them," Parrikar said.
