The Ghaziabad administration freed five acres of land worth nearly Rs 150 crores from the clutches of the mafia in a village here, officials said.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad administration freed five acres of land worth nearly Rs 150 crores from the clutches of the mafia in a village here, officials said.

District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari said the land, belonging to the Land Management Committee (LMC) and the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, was freed during an 'anti-land mafia' drive launched in Akbarbar Bahrampur village here.

A team of district administration and nagar nigam officials headed by sub-divisional magistrate Prem Ranjan Singh freed the land from the clutches of mafia with the help of the police.

A total of 72 FIRs have been lodged against land grabbers till Wednesday.
