New Delhi: Chinese authorities are planning to cut the carbon emissions by almost 18 percent by the year 2020.

The Chinese cabinet has rolled out a fresh climate plan which says that the levels would be cut with next 4 years compared to 2015 levels.

The state council has claimed that coal consumption must ideally be capped at about 4.2 billion tons in the year 2020.

China has taken a leading role in climate change talks and its collaboration with the United States has been touted by Washington and Beijing as a bright spot in an otherwise strained relationship.
