New Delhi: Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar will be attending International Yoga Day celebrations at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the invitation of India's Permanent Representative Ashoke Mukherjee. He will be a special guest of honour.

The celebrations will be held in the presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishanker.

The ambassadors of 193 member countries are also likely to attend the function.

Bhandarkar will also share his thoughts on yoga with distinguished guests at the UN premises. The filmmaker is also likely to travel to Times Square immediately after the UN celebrations to address a gathering of an estimated 30,000 people there.

"Yes, I am going to New York to attend the International Yoga Day Celebration. It is an honour to be part of such a prestigious event," Bhandarkar said.

The celebrations mark its unique significance on the global stage as the International Yoga Daywill be celebrated in all 193 UN Member countries.
