FHRAI to hold its 50th annual convention at Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), an apex body of Indian hospitality industry, would hold its golden jubilee convention here this year.

The three-day convention from September is slated to be one of the biggest events in hospitality and tourism in the country and Odisha Tourism has joined FHRAI as partners, President of FHRAI Tejinder Singh Walia told reporters here.

The Convention theme is the much-adored Sanskrit verse 'Atithi Devo Bhava' meaning 'Guest is God'.

While unveiling the Golden Jubilee Convention charter, Odisha's Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda said the mega event would provide the state with an opportunity to showcase its tourism potential and attract investments in the growing sector.

"We are pleased that FHRAI has chosen Odisha to hold its Golden Jubilee Convention. Our state has a rich diversity of tourism assets and the event will help us to showcase to the world the splendour of Odisha," said Panda.

More than 1,000 delegates representing top echelons of the hospitality and tourism industry in India, leading hoteliers and other stakeholders in the industry are likely to participate in the high profile event, said Walia.

"It is a proud privilege for FHRAI that Odisha Tourism has partnered with us to hold the Golden Jubilee Convention, which is for the first time being held in a tier-II city in eastern India," he said.

Thirteen states and a union territory comprising the eastern India have immense tourism potential and we are confident that this event will be a catalyst for the growth of tourism in the region, Walia said.
