Los Angeles: Boy-band One Direction's singer Harry Styles, thanking his fans on the completion of five years of the band, has said they own their success to their followers.

The 21-year-old singer took to Twitter yesterday to celebrate the occasion and credited the fans behind their success, reported E! Online.

"We have been a band for five years. And it is impossible to thank anyone enough for all the support they have given us over this time...

"All the crew that we have been so lucky to work with, and everyone who is behind the scenes. We thank you for everything that you do," he tweeted.

The "One Thing" hitmaker also thanked fans for enjoying their music and supporting the group.

"To you who support us, in any way, thank you. We wouldn't be here without you. You did this and we thank you for having us. All the love."

In 2010, media mogul Simon Cowell grouped Harry, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik to create One Direction after they finished third on the UK's "The X Factor" in 2010.

The band signed with Cowell's record label Syco Records after their win. Malik, however, left the band earlier this year.
