Los Angeles: "Fantastic Four" creator Stan Lee was "more than ok" with the casting of Michael B Jordon as Human Torch in the film.

The 92-year-old comic book writer, who broke the colour barrier by creating characters like the Black Panther and the Falcon, says the outrage is not racial, but is because people do not want to see any change in the characters they have grown familiar with, reporter Entertainment Weekly.

"It was more than ok. I thought it was a great idea! said Lee. "They are outraged not because of any personal prejudice. They're outraged because they hate to see any change made on a series and characters they had gotten familiar with. In Spider-Man, when they got a new actor, that bothered them, even though it was a white actor. I don't think it had to do with racial prejudice as much as they don't like things changed," he added.

Jordon, 28, said if Stan Lee, the creator of Fantastic Four was ok with him portraying the Human Torch, the rest of fan base should be too.

"(If) Stan Lee writes an email to my director saying, 'You're good. I'm ok with this,' who am I to go against that?" Jordan said. "Fantastic Four" is scheduled to release on August 7.
