New 'King Kong' film gets retitled, delayed for 2017

Los Angeles: New 'King Kong' film has been officially titled as 'Kong: Skull Island'.

The release has been pushed back from November 4, 2016 to March 10, 2017, probably to avoid competition against Marvel's 'Doctor Strange', reported Ace Showbiz.

'Skull Island' was first announced by the studio and Legendary Pictures during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is already on board to direct the film, based on script penned by John Gatins (‘Flight’) and Max Borenstein (‘Godzilla’).

Tom Hiddleston, the villainous Loki from "The Avengers", has been tapped to play the leader of a team of adventurers exploring the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes. The film will be released in 3D.

The monster franchise's last release was 'King Kong', which was remade twice in 1976 and 2005 after its inception in 1933.
