Los Angeles: Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly attached to star in an upcoming romantic-dramedy "The Rosie Project", which is being developed at Columbia Pictures, a division of Sony.

"Rosie", an adaptation of a Graeme Simsion book, tells of a socially inept genetics professor, who comes up with a scientifically sound survey to find the perfect mate. His plans get curvy when he meets Rosie Jarman, who in her whirlwind manner possesses all the opposite qualities he should be looking for.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were looking to direct the project, but the "Lego" Movie filmmakers bowed out when they took on the young Han Solo "Star Wars" movie.

The project is now on a fast-track search for a director, said The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who tackled quirk and heartache with the acclaimed "(500) Days of Summer", have written the script.

Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan are producing. Sony has not commented yet.
