Los Angeles: "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" director Francis Lawrence is reportedly considering adapting "The Odyssey" for the big screen.

Lionsgate is reuniting Lawrence with his "Mockingjay" screenwriter Peter Craig and producer Nina Jacobson on a film version of Homer's epic poem.

Production on "The Odyssey" is currently being eyed to start up when Lawrence concludes promotion for "Mockingjay ? Part 2", according to Deadline.

Lawrence apparently became attached to the project after it was pitched by Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig while finishing work on "Mockingjay" in Paris.
"The Odyssey" is a sequel of sorts to ancient Greek writer Homer's first epic poem Iliad.

There have been numerous film adaptations of "The Odyssey" throughout the decades, with the Coen brothers famously loosely adapting it for their Oscar-nominated movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
