Los Angeles: Actors Lolita Davidovich and James Frain have been cast in recurring roles for the second season of hit drama 'True Detective'.

They will join Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch. Rachel McAdams is rumored to be near a deal to play the fourth and final lead role, reported Deadline.

Davidovich, 53, will play Kitsch's mother Nancy Simpson, a former showgirl continually sucking on cigarettes and margaritas as she mourns the loss of male attention.

Frain, 46, who had a significant role on 'True Blood', will play Jeff Hunt, a ruthless police lieutenant. Season two revolves around three police officers and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

The season will also feature 'Black Box' star Kelly Reilly in a series regular role, as well as Michael Irby, 'Suits' star Abigail Spencer and Leven Rambin in recurring roles.

Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, a criminal struggling to move in a legit direction. Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a 'compromised detective'. Kitsch is set to play a detective, and McAdams, if cast, will play the third detective.

Justin Lin, who recently helmed the Scorpion pilot, will direct the first two episodes of the eight-episode second season, written by creator Nic Pizzolatto. Production will begin later this fall in California.
