Neilson Social says 8.1million people in the US saw one or more of the 972,000 tweets sent about the two-hour special, reported The Wrap.
403,000 people tweeted and those tweets were viewed 139million times, with the interview topping the worldwide trending list on April 24 night.
The show hit 16.86million viewers, thereby making it the top-rated Friday primetime programme for this whole TV season.
Jenner's family and friends have rallied around him, tweeting their support for his announcement.
An eight-part series, which will explore Jenner's transition, will premiere on July 26.
