Rourke wants to quickly complete mafia flick

Washington: Mickey Rourke wants to wrap up his upcoming mafia flick ‘The Ice Man’ before the author of the book on which the movie is based is dead.

Rourke plays real life hired gun Richard Kuklinski in the film, based on Philip Carlo`s 2006 book The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer.

Carlo, who is also co-producing the flick with Rourke, is down with Lou Gehrig`s disease, which is slowly chipping away at his nervous system, and Rourke is desperate to complete the film while Carlo is alive.

Contactmusic quoted Rourke, 57, as having told the New York Post: "(The biggest challenge is) getting it released in time. He doesn`t have much time."

Filming for The Ice Man is slated to begin in spring 2010 in New York, New Jersey and Florida.
