Depp won’t abandon Pirates of the Caribbean ship, insist Disney bosses

London: Disney bosses have rubbished reports that claimed Johnny Depp would no longer be a part of the future flicks of the Pirates of the Caribbean flicks.

Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie franchise, fuelled speculation that he was quitting the series when he told a daily his excitement for the role had waned following the resignation of Disney chairman Dick Cook in September this year.

The Daily Express quoted Depp as telling the Los Angeles Times: “There`s a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm (for the project) at the moment. It was all born in that office.”

However, a Disney spokesperson has said the 46-year-old actor is very much a part of the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and has dubbed the rumours "completely unfounded".

The On Stranger Tides will be released in the summer of 2011.
