Mumbai: Ace designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla will present their retro collection 'Jawani Janeman' at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week.
"This season we reinvent the traditional to present an exciting, fresh take on fashion deemed fit for the youth. We thought of retro as a theme. We will be presenting a funky retro collection. We will present our version of 70s and 80s," Khosla told PTI.
"It will be grand... The set will be huge and so will be the ramp. There will be lot of surprises. I can't reveal too much details," he said.
The collection named as 'Jawani Janeman', Khosla says, is inspired from actress Parveen Babi's popular song "Jawani Janeman Haseen Dilruba".
"The idea came to us when we were watching TV and this particular song was being played. Interestingly, Abu had worked with Parveen Babi who did the song," the designer said.
The colour story will be mostly off white and in shades of beige, he said. The show will also mark debut of the duo at the Lakme Fashion Winter/Festive Week in Mumbai.
"It is very strange but no one asked us for LFW till now in Mumbai. We keep doing things quietly we decided to lets go out there. We agreed to be part if it and we are happy to present our collection," Khosla said.
From English actress Judi Dench to the Bachchan family to Sonam Kapoor, the ace designers have not just made a mark in fashion circles in India, but have also dressed the who's who of showbiz internationally.
When asked about the show stopper, Khosla said, "We will have models on the ramp. There will be around 50 models displaying our work. But there will be celebrities present for the show."
