Los Angeles: Actor Robert De Niro failed to recognise actor Christian Bale when he met him in his new look for the film `American Hustle`.
Bale sports a podgy, balding look in the film.
When De Niro met the entire cast, he asked director David O. Russell who the overweight guy was.
"After he met everybody he said, `Who`s that guy?` I said, `You just shook his hand, that`s Christian Bale.` He said, `No, that guy.` I said, `Yeah, that`s Christian Bale," Huffingtonpost.com quoted Russel as saying.
The crime drama also featured Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
