New Delhi: British Indian novelist and essayist, Salman Rushdie has come out in support of the numerous writers returning their Sahitya Akademi Awards.

Salman took to micro blogging site Twitter to share his views about the same.

Many writers from Kashmir and Punjab and other eminent authors have returned their awards, reports suggest.
Questioning the government’s silence, authors have raised their voice against murder of Kannada writer and Sahitya Akademi award winner MM Kalburgi.

To show solidarity to fellow authors, writers from Gujarat, Delhi and Karnataka have also announced their decision to return their awards.
