Mumbai: A Mumbai sessions court Judge - D.W. Deshpande - held Salman Khan guilty in the 2002 hit-and-run case and sentenced him to 5 years in jail. The verdict left the Bollywood fraternity besides the superstar’s family, friends and fans, in complete dismay.
Younger sister of Salman – Arpita Khan Sharma – took to Twitter last evening to thank her brother’s fans for their best wishes and support. She explained that the day was an overwhelming one and that the family will leave the rest to God.

Salman was sentenced for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and driving without licence. He was also held guilty of rash and negligent driving.
The actor’s Land Cruiser had rammed into the American Express Bakery after running over one person and injuring four others.
