Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor Khan, wife of actor Saif Ali Khan, broke her silence on the Padma award controversy. Reports suggest that while interacting with the media recently, Kareena said that Saif would happily return the honour conferred on him by the government of India.
Speculations have been rife that owing to a criminal case against the actor for his involvement in an ugly midnight brawl with an NRI businessman in 2012, the government is contemplating to strip him off the prestigious honour.
However, there has been no confirmation from the government as yet regarding the same.
Defending her husband, Kareena reportedly said that Saif did not ask for the award but the same was “conferred” on him.
Saif was honoured with the Padma Award in 2010 for his contribution to Indian Cinema.
