London: Former Spice Girl Mel B’s daughter Phoenix Chi was allegedly held captive by her father, Mel’s former husband Jimmy Gulzar, during a custody visit.
The 12 year old, who has now filed a battery charge, says that Gulzar held her arm and refused to let her go. At one point she was planning to climb out of the balcony to escape.
She was only able to leave when her stepfather Stephan Belafonte, who had come to collect her, called the police.
The cops arrived and told Jimmy he was legally required to return his daughter – otherwise he would face a kidnapping charge.
“As the officers turned to leave, Phoenix began to cry and ran over to one of them,” a source told the Mirror.
“She said she wanted to go with them to the police station and file a battery charge against her dad. She is so upset that he would put her through such an ordeal,” the source said.
Mel B, or Melanie Brown, is currently in Sydney filming the Australian X Factor and is reportedly furious at the whole incident.
She is supposed to give a statement to the police when she returns to the United States.
