Mansoor is the finest filmmaker: Aamir Khan

New Delhi: Superstar Aamir Khan may have worked with some of the most successful directors in the industry, but it is his cousin Mansoor Khan whom he considers the finest filmmaker in India.

The actor`s acting debut in 1988 was with Mansoor directed love story `Qayamat se Qayamat Tak` and they later collaborated again on coming-of-age story `Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and marital drama `Akele Hum Akele Tum`.

Mansoor`s last directorial venture was in 2000 with Shah Rukh Khan starrer `Josh` before retiring from filmmaking.

"I have grown up with Mansoor... He is one of the finest filmmakers I think India has seen. His retirement is a huge loss to the industry. I am still hoping that he will come back," said Aamir while launching Mansoor`s book `The Third Curve` here last night.

"He has been quietly working on something for 10 years and never told me. Finally, sometime back he told me about this book. And it is a pleasure to launch this book," the actor added.
The 47-year-old "3 Idiots" star also credited Mansoor for being a great influence in his life and hoped he would make a comeback to direction.

"I have been strongly influenced by him. I did my first movie with him and often used to wonder why didn`t he want to make movies. I kept persuading him that he should," Aamir said.

The launch was also attended by Sunanda Pushkar, Mohammad Azharuddin among others. Aamir is currently shooting for his upcoming movie `Peekay` in the capital.
