‘Mad Max’ Mel Gibson gets support from gay bro over anti-racist charges

Melbourne: The adopted gay brother of Mel Gibson has finally broken his self-imposed silence to defend his embattled movie-star brother.

Andrew Gibson, who has never revealed his secret identity or truth about his famous family until now, said he could no longer be quiet after damning allegations by the ‘Mad Max’ star``s former partner Oksana Grigorieva and his impending divorce from wife of 28 years Robyn.

He said the entire Gibson clan did not believe alleged taped conversations of Mel, 55, using abusive, homophobic and racist language were really him.

“When I heard them I just thought: ‘That isn’t Mel.’ He has never said anything abusive aggressive or racist in his life,” News.com.au quoted him as telling The Sunday Telegraph.

While he admitted his brother had made homophobic quotes during a 1991 interview, Andrew said that when he had come out to family and friends about being gay more than two decades ago, Mel was the supportive person.

“He’s a straight man and he was illustrating that fact,” he said. “He never meant to upset anyone. I have never once heard anything anti-gay come out of his mouth.
