Jake Gyllenhaal re-evaluated his life following pal Heath Ledger’s death

London: Jake Gyllenhaal has said that he assessed his life after friend Heath Ledger’s untimely death.

Ledger’s death in January 2008 due to a toxic combination of prescription drugs left Gyllenhaal torn apart, reports The Daily Express.

His death impelled the 29-year-old actor to re-assess his personal problems.

"Life, I didn`t totally understand. And I think I was afraid of life. And I had success in my work, enough success that you could keep going back there,” Gyllenhaal told America`s GQ magazine.

"But after his death happened... I think I recognised that it was work. And I recognised that this is for real," Gyllenhaal added.
