Mumbai: Legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja’s youngest son - Yuvan Shankar Raja - reportedly embraced Islam earlier this year.

The young music composer was apparently devastated following his mother’s death a couple of years ago. He started reading the Quran and started practicing Islam in January 2014 and decided to embrace the religion.

Talking to a leading daily, Yuvan said that despite opposition from his father, he decided to convert. Interestingly, his brother and sister-in-law supported his decision. The 34-year-old musician, who is now gearing up for the release of his latest- ‘Raja Natwarlal’ (a film for which he has composed the music), doesn’t intend to change his name as of now.
