I am not Kochi IPL team`s brand ambassador: Vidya Balan

New Delhi: Actress Vidya Balan has rubbished reports claiming that she will be the brand ambassador for the embattled Kochi IPL team.

The actress who belongs to a Palakkad Brahmin family was the fan favourite to be the ambassador for the team from Kerala, but Balan said that she has not even been approached with a proposal.

"I have no clue about it and no one has approached me yet," the actress told reporters here. Balan who was in town to receive the `Tejaswini` award for young women achievers, refused to comment further on the controversy surrounding the spat between IPL Chairman Lalit Modi and Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi
Tharoor.

The Kochi franchise of the super successful 20-20 cricket tournament, ran into controversy when Modi publicly disclosed the names of some of the owners of a consortium that recently bought the team for a whopping USD 333 million.

Out of this free equity, 19 per cent is said to have gone to Sunanda Pushkar, a Kashmiri beautician closely linked to Tharoor who is reportedly planning to marry her after
divorcing his second wife, a Canadian.

So as of now, fans of the 31-year-old actress will not be seeing her cheering from the stands.

The IPL matches have become glamorous events thanks to the presence of the fans from Bollywood who come out to support their favourite teams.

While leading actors like Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty are team owners, Katrina Kaif is the ambassador for the Royal Challengers team from Bangalore.
