Mumbai: Rishi Kapoor has donned many feathers on his cap and now the veteran is all set to play a father to Abhishek Bachchan in a film.

His association with the Bachchans is quite old. Rishi in his younger days worked with Abhi`s father Amitabh Bachchan in many films- ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ being just few of the names on the list.

According to reports from a leading daily Umesh Shukla’s next movie stars the Rishi and Abhishek in father-son’s avatar in ‘Mere Apne’.

The daily quoted Umesh as saying, “"Rishiji is playing Abhishek`s father and the film is about family values, but it`s not preachy. It has humour, fun and entertainment, which I think should be its USP."

‘Mere Apne’, which is slated to release sometime late next year also reportedly stars Asin Thottumkal opposite Junior Bachchan. The director had initially approached Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diana Penty but both of them refused owing to reasons unknown.

Umesh comes with this movie after ‘OMG: Oh My God!’, which did well at the Box Office and was very well received by the audience for its fresh content. His next project is slated to be ‘102 Not Out’, starring Amitabh Bachchan, and is based on a Gujarati play.
