Mumbai:Actor Rajeev Khandelwal will be seen as a detective in his upcoming film `Samrat & Co`, a detective thriller produced by Kavita Barjatya under the Rajshri banner.
Kavita will be taking Rajshri, which is known for their family dramas, to a dynamic and contemporary curve with her maiden production starring Rajeev Khandelwal and Madalsa Sharma.
The suspense-adventure will see Rajeev as the main lead in the film which is scheduled to release on May 1, 2014.
This will be the first detective film from Rajshri, among a series of movies lined up in this genre by other filmmakers next year.
Other films in this space include `Mr Joe B Carvalho` starring Arshad Warsi and Soha Ali Khan where the actor does a Steve Martin, playing a bumbling sleuth like Martins Jacques Clouseau in `The Pink Panther` series. This is the first release of 2014.
This will be followed by Anurag Basu`s `Jagga Jasoos` starring Ranbir Kapoor, Dibakar Bannerjee`s `Detective Byomkesh Bakshi` with newcomer Sushant Singh Rajput.
Actress Vidya Balan will be seen as Bobby Jasoos in a film to be directed by newcomer Samar Sheikh while Anushka Sharma plays a detective in Navdeep Singh`s NH10.
