Osian`s Cinefan film fest cancelled

New Delhi: Aficionados of world cinema in the capital will miss on some international films as the annual Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema has been cancelled this year.

"We won`t have the festival this time. You have the Commonwealth Games at that time and people will be interested in that. Then Siri Fort is under renovation. We don`t even know if it`ll be ready by that time," a source from the festival told reporters.

"And whatever is available, is already booked for the period. We need at least two weekends during the festival because that draws maximum footfalls. We tried asking people who`ve got the bookings if they could let us the dates but nothing happened. So we thought of taking a break this year," the source added.

The film festival was re-scheduled from July to October last year keeping in mind the heat during summers and will be scheduled back to July next year onwards.

The gala has been held at the Siri Fort Complex for the past decade. The Commonwealth Games will be held Oct 3-14 in the capital.
