Ken Ghosh and UTV slug it out for ‘Chance Pe Dance’

Mumbai: When Ken Ghosh’s ‘Chance Pe Dance’ is all set for release, news has it that all is not well between the director and the producers (UTV).

According to the latest Bollywood news, post the ill-fated Jiah Khan episode where ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’ star Genelia D’Souza replaced the former, Ken Ghosh wanted to expand the budget of the flick from Rs 20 crores to Rs 24 crores.

However, UTV did not submit to the director’s demands as it blankly told Ghosh that it will not raise the budget. With no option in hand, Ken had to shoot the movie with the allotted funds.

Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Ken has not made a film in the past few years, so he wanted to make an extravagant film now. However, after the entire Jiah Khan episode, the budget went haywire, but UTV firmly refused more money, saying that a film with Shahid and Genelia cannot exceed 20 crores for it to be a saleable project.”

“The budget of the film is Rs 20 crores and despite whatever pressures we had from the line producers, we made sure that the budget does not exceed the sum. There were issues during the making of the movie but we were firm about not going beyond the budget to make it a saleable proposition,” added a source from the production house.

Meanwhile, Ken Ghosh seemed to have a different version, as the director said, “It’s the opposite. We finished the film within the given budget. In fact, the last installment was returned to the producers and there were no issues at all.”

Well, let’s see what happens next!
