Anil Kapoor wants `Shortkut` to people heart with new film

London, June 28: After playing a mean quiz-master in the Oscar-award winning film `Slumdog Millionaire`, Anil Kapoor is back with his home production `Shortkut` which the actor says will be a "shortcut to the people`s heart."

"The film is not a non-sensical comedy but one which will tickle the funny bone of audiences. It is a short-cut to the heart of the people," Kapoor told reporters from New York where he is currently busy promoting the film.

Adaptated from a Malayalam film `Udayam`, the fil is a comedy revolving around two principal characters Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna), a struggling director and Chandu (Arshad Warsi), a struggling actor.

A twist of fate gets them together under one roof as they share a room in a chawl (tenement) in Mumbai.

While Shekhar is supremely talented and confident of his skills, Chandu is a buffoon, a complete non-actor who believes he is a God`s gift to Bollywood. What follows is a hilarious tale of con, deceit, stardom and subsequent fall.

Shot in Bangkok, the film also features Amrita Rao whose has gone under a drastic make-over from girl-next-door to become a hot bombshell in the movie.

Produced by Anil Kapoor Films Production and directed by Neeraj Vora of `Phir Hera Pheri` fame, the film will be released globally on July 10, 2009.

Kapoor said that initially he wanted to work in the film but opted out as he felt he would not be able to justify his role as a producer.
