'Hamilton' wins 2015 OBIE Award

Director James Houghton's play "Hamilton" has won the 60th OBIE Award, earning the honour for the best new American theatre work. The OBIE Award, created by the Village Voice to honour Off-Broadway, reported Deadline.

Los Angeles: Director James Houghton's play "Hamilton" has won the 60th OBIE Award, earning the honour for the best new American theatre work. The OBIE Award, created by the Village Voice to honour Off-Broadway, reported Deadline.

The winners were selected by a changing jury, with no written limitation on how many awards may be given in each category.

The top award carries a cash prize of USD 1,000. The judges were OBIE Committee Chairman and former Voice chief drama critic Michael Feingold, playwright Adam Bock, orchestrator Bruce Coughlin, director Lear deBessonet, scenic designer Mimi Lien, critic David Rooney, Village Voice critic Tom Sellar and director Liesl Tommy.
