Why a courage award for Caitlyn Jenner, questions Tom Cruise's son

Washington: Hollywood star Tom Cruise's son Connor thinks Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner) should not be honoured with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

The former Olympian , 65, is set to receive the prestigious award at the ESPY Awards next month for showing bravery in coming out as woman.

The 20-year-old DJ, in a Twitter rant, said there are "more important things" to talk about and other people that "actually deserve an award," reported Washington Post.

"Really?? Winning the AA award for courage?? he tweeted.

The musician said everyone was taking Jenner's transformation "way too seriously" while there are bigger issues which need to be addressed.

"Like the fact that we are overfishing and in 30 years there will be no more fish... 85 per cent of the worlds protein is fish. That's one of thousands of things that should be of a higher importance than what is currently being gone over.

"Or what about the fact that our planet is becoming less habitable on a daily basis. Yet the population is increasing at an alarming rate...Or the fact that we all can't even get a long on earth. We fight and kill each other. We have war and poverty. This needs to change (sic)."

Later, the musician, who is Tom's son with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, deleted his Tweets.
