Mumbai: Hundreds of devotees, on Tuesday, began the famous 14 Kosi journey around Ayodhya city to worship their ancestral king Lord Ram. According to the Hindu mythology, this journey frees a devotee from the cycle of birth and death.

Seers and pilgrims set out on the 42-kilometer journey amid sounds of chants and prayers and bathed in the holy water of River Kosi."All people who participate in the rituals of 14 Kosi circumbulation to attain salvation as the sins of their lifetime are washed away. Secondly, by circumbulating their god in Ayodhya, devotees are spared of the torture faced by other living beings," said Narayan Mishra.
