Mobile meltdown on Royal Wedding day?

London: The police fear that the UK might witness a mobile meltdown thanks to the Royal Wedding in April.

As a result, are renting satellite phones and special mobile SIM cards for the wedding.

With more than a million well wishers expected to descend on London for the big day, there are concerns communications could be jammed by a deluge of data, compromising the police’s huge pound security operation.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed contingency plans were being put in place.

The police radio system will also be upgraded.

“We have robust systems in place. Engineers will also carry out live monitoring,” the Daily Express quoted a spokesperson as saying.
