Los Angeles: A group of architects and "Lord of the Rings" fans are raising funds to build a real-world Minas Tirith (also known as Minas Anor), the capital city of Gondor.

An IndieGoGo campaign has been set up to raise a whooping USD 2.9 billion for Minas Tirith, the city which was seen in full in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", reported Entertainment Weekly.

Fans even have the option to become a Lord or Lady of the city by pledging 10,000 Pounds, though the architects and engineers running the project promise that no one will be charged if they do not hit their goal.

However, twelve days into the 60-day campaign, the project has raised a little over 16,000 Pounds. If the Minas Tirith campaign succeeds, it would become the biggest crowd-funding project.

The fans plan to start building the project in 2016 and hopefully complete it by 2023.
