New Delhi: Ahead of the release of Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film `MSG – The Messenger of God`, the Union Home Ministry has issued an alert to the state governments of Punjab and Haryana.
The Centre has written to the respective governments saying that the film starring the 'godman' could lead to violence.
The Home Ministry suspects groups against the godman could cause violence.
According to reports, both states have been asked to maintain tight security near movie theatres screening the film.
The movie is releasing this Friday.
The film has already courted controversies even before its release with a number of independent religious groups and outfits seeking a ban on its release. A number of Sikh communities have staged protests against the movie arguing it could hurt religious sentiments.
