Kendriya Vidyalaya KVS Admission 2017-18 goes online

New Delhi: In a move that will bring transparency in admissions to the Kendriya Vidyalayas, the HRD ministry-run Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has decided to adopt the online model from the upcoming academic session.

Class I admissions for all the 1,128 KVs in the country will be done via a centralised portal.

Seats in KVs are highly coveted – as many as 10 lakh applications are received each year but only 1.3 to 15 lakh students get admission in schools under the KVS system.

As against the previous procedure where parents applied at the specific school he/she is interested in for his/her ward, the online process will be much simpler as all schools under KVS will be listed on the portal, all that a parent would need to do will be apply for the school he/she is interested in.

The portal will also display the number of seats in each school. The list of selected candidates will also be displayed online.

The HRD ministry is learnt to have been mulling creating the criteria according to which the students from poorer sections have a greater chance of getting admissions in these schools.

The ministry is also planning a series of reforms in the Kendriya Vidyalayas which range from creating a suitable transfer policy for their employees to boost academic standards.
