New Delhi: If you equate fun with long weekends off after a tiring week, then rejoice! The year 2017 is not going to disappoint in offering long weekends.

Many public holidays next year will be falling on or around weekends.

The first holiday and which is a long weekend in 2017 falls on a Saturday, January 14, for Sankranti. After that, Republic Day, falls on a Thursday. If you have a five-day work schedule, then you just need one day off on Friday.

Moving on to February, Maha Shivaratri falls on Friday the 24th.

Holi on March 13 falls on a Monday.

In April there’s Good Friday, which is also Ambedkar Jayanti, and May Day (Labour Day) is a Monday.

August will have two long weekends; taking a leave on August 14 (Monday) would result in straight holidays from August 12-15. Similarly, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on August 25, which is again a Friday.

If you take three days off on Dussehra, you get get 10 days off. The holiday falls on September 29 (Ayudha Puja) followed by Vijaya Dasami (September 30). Again, October 2 is a public holiday (Gandhi Jayanti).

With a little bit of planning during Dussehra you can have a straight holiday from September 29 to October 8.

During Daiwali, again, long holiday and this time all official. Diwali holiday will be from Wednesday to Friday, followed by the weekend.

But Christmas brings cheer again, falling festively on a Monday.
